These women truly cared about my mom.” That was certainly true. “We spent so much time together,” said Shemek. “I was relieved for Phyllis that she got her wish to be done fighting, but I was sad.” Even after Blessen’s death, the hospice staff members were still following up with both Dykstra and Sterup. “Truly, it takes a special person to take on this role and help others in their most vulnerable stage,” said Dykstra. “They truly are angels on earth, and I am so happy Mom got to be with them before she met her heavenly ones.”
